With the rapid development of the international economy, the demand for composite materials in the industrial sector has increased, prompting rapid development in the field of composite materials. Fiberglass pipes, as a basic material with excellent comprehensive performance, have unique performance advantages that allow them to be widely used even in relatively complex industrial environments. Therefore, the emergence of fiberglass pipes has a significant impact on the development of today's society, and they are widely promoted and applied in industrial fields such as chemical engineering, petroleum, metallurgy, papermaking, and urban water supply and drainage.

The fiberglass pipes in our country can be traced back to 40 years ago, when small-diameter fiberglass pipes made by hand layup appeared. Recently,10the field of fiberglass pipes in our country has developed rapidly, with many domestic enterprises (such as Beihai Yueda Fiberglass Products Co., Ltd. in Guangxi, etc.) introducing advanced sanded pipe production lines and fiber-wound fiberglass pipe production lines. They have also introduced advanced foreign technology in terms of process and design, promoting the development of our material industry. There are now various grades of resin and fiber products available for design selection, allowing fiberglass pipes to gradually be compatible. However, there are still many problems and defects in our fiberglass pipes regarding raw materials, process equipment, technical management, engineering design, product standards, construction specifications, and application scope.

1. Additives: Additives are an indispensable part of fiberglass product production, directly affecting the performance of fiberglass pipes. However, currently, the variety of additives produced in our country is limited, incompatible, and of poor quality. In our country, except for a few fiberglass production plants that have specialized super wetting agents for non-twisted roving, most fiberglass plants producing alkali-free and medium-alkali wound non-twisted roving lack specialized wetting agents, resulting in poor wettability. Some felt materials are uneven in thickness, so the specifications and varieties of domestic reinforcement materials cannot well meet the needs of fiberglass pipe production.

2. Resin: The resins used for fiberglass pipes abroad have high performance, a full range of varieties, and are systematic; isophthalic unsaturated polyesters have accounted for more than 30% and have gradually become general-purpose unsaturated polyester resins. According to different usage requirements, there are various specialized resins and additives to meet the usage requirements. However, currently, the annual production of unsaturated polyesters in China is500below tons.200There are many small factories, and the total production volume accounts for about60%.However, some small factories have simple equipment, backward inspection and technical management, limited varieties, and poor quality. In recent years, China has also introduced five unsaturated polyester production lines, but currently, the output of isophthalic unsaturated polyester resins is very small, and the prices are very high, which affects their use.

3. Other production deficiencies: Currently, there are 29 introduced and self-made fiberglass pipe and tank production lines in the country, but the utilization rate is onlyaround 20%.The winding forming process only accounts for3.5%,and there is still a need to further develop the market and fully utilize the production capacity of existing equipment. Currently, large-diameter fittings mostly use hand layup and spraying methods for forming, which are incompatible and of poor quality. Many fiberglass factories lack technical personnel, have low employee education levels, and poor professional quality, resulting in products without design, material selection without standards, inspection without means, and products without testing. When making fiberglass pipes, inferior raw materials are often used, leading to quality issues that cause some pipe leakage accidents and economic losses, creating significant psychological barriers for users regarding fiberglass products, thus affecting the reputation and promotion of fiberglass pipes.

With the continuous development of fiberglass pipe production technology and the increasing market demands for pipe materials, it is believed that in the near future, fiberglass pipes will play a more important role in our country's petroleum, papermaking, chemical engineering, metallurgy, and urban water supply fields.
