Fiberglass tanks are a type of non-metal composite tank made from resin and fiberglass, wound by microcomputer-controlled machines. They have advantages such as corrosion resistance, high strength, long service life, flexible design, and strong processability. Due to the characteristics of fiberglass tanks, they are widely used in industries such as chemical, environmental protection, food, pharmaceuticals, and dyeing, gradually replacing carbon steel and stainless steel in most market areas. However, during the use of fiberglass tanks, there are often situations requiring cleaning and maintenance. Here are five important points to know during the cleaning and maintenance process: 1. The external climbing ladder, cage, and guardrails of the fiberglass storage tank should be carefully inspected before climbing.

Important Considerations for Cleaning and Maintaining Fiberglass Tanks

Fiberglass tanks are a type of non-metal composite material tank body made from resin and fiberglass wound by microcomputer-controlled machines. Below are five essential points to know during the cleaning and maintenance process:

1. The external climbing ladder, cage, and guardrails of the fiberglass storage tank should be carefully checked for safety and reliability before climbing. Climbing is strictly prohibited in case of any abnormalities.

2. When entering the fiberglass storage tank for maintenance, all feed valves should be closed first, and the tank should be emptied and cleaned. After testing, it must be confirmed that there are no toxic gases and that oxygen levels are adequate before entering the tank. When entering the tank, soft-soled shoes should be worn, a safety belt should be fastened, and the other end of the safety belt should be secured to the top of the tank. Ensure proper ventilation inside the tank. Operations inside the tank must be monitored by personnel outside.

3. Prevent tools from striking the tank wall. Soft pads should be added to the contact points of ladders and metal parts with the tank wall to protect the inner wall from scratches and bruises.

4. During maintenance, do not load anything arbitrarily on the top of the tank, and do not apply external force on the connecting pipes.

5. Outdoor fiberglass storage tanks may experience surface aging after several years of use, leading to resin layer peeling or fiber exposure. It is recommended to paint or coat the outer surface with resin every two to three years to prevent aging and extend service life.
