Fiberglass reinforced sand pipes are strongly recommended for drainage projects due to their excellent characteristics such as corrosion resistance, hydraulic properties, lightweight and high strength, and large flow capacity. Their convenient and quick installation methods can also accelerate the construction cycle. Below is an introduction to the construction process of fiberglass reinforced sand pipes. 1. Inspection of Pipe Fittings Conduct a comprehensive on-site inspection of the purchased fiberglass reinforced sand pipes. Check whether the pipes have a factory certificate and product inspection report; pipes without these documents are not allowed for construction. Inspect the pipe body for any damage or cracks; if any are found, they should be stored separately. 2. Connection Methods for Fiberglass Reinforced Sand Pipes The straight sections of fiberglass reinforced sand pipes generally use a double O-ring socket connection method. For the joints, an adhesive of the same material as the fiberglass reinforced sand pipe is used to bond the joints, and fiberglass cloth soaked in adhesive is wrapped around the bonded area until it cures and hardens. 3. Preparation of the Pipe Trench Before installation, conduct a detailed and comprehensive check of the trench design drawings. If there are any discrepancies, make immediate adjustments. Remove any hard stones and sharp objects from the bottom of the trench to avoid damaging the pipe during installation. 4. Lowering the Pipe When lowering the fiberglass reinforced sand pipe, it must not come into direct contact with steel wire ropes to avoid localized stress damage. To ensure smooth venting during pressure testing after installation, the pressure test hole of the fiberglass pipe should face upwards. When lowering the pipe into the trench, care should be taken to avoid bumping against the trench walls to prevent damage. During transportation and movement of the pipes in the trench, do not disturb the trench foundation or walls, and each pipe should be staggered about 0.4m in the direction of the trench. 5. Installation Preparation Before installing the fiberglass reinforced sand pipe, check that the shape of the O-rings is perfect and the surface is smooth. When bending or pulling the O-rings by hand, there should be no cracks or unevenness on the surface. Before installation, clean the inner wall of the pipe and the socket area to ensure there are no foreign objects. Clean the O-rings and grooves thoroughly, and evenly apply lubricant to both the O-rings and grooves. Then, place the O-ring into the groove without any bending from the bottom of the pipe, and check the sealing status of the entire O-ring around the circumference to ensure it is not bent. 6. Pipe Installation During the installation of fiberglass reinforced sand pipes, adjust to ensure that the installation surface is perpendicular to the pipe axis. Then, evenly apply a layer of lubricant to the surfaces of the pipe socket and spigot to facilitate smooth insertion during installation. After aligning the pipes, tighten the clamps on both pipes to keep them in a straight line. Use two tensioners to symmetrically tighten and evenly pull the O-ring into the socket. During this process, check that the O-ring does not roll over, and the insertion depth meets the limit line requirements. Finally, stabilize the pipe and proceed with the installation of the next pipe using the same method. Content collected and organized from the internet, copyright belongs to the original author. Glass fiber reinforced sand pipeDue to its excellent characteristics, such as corrosion resistance, hydraulic properties, lightweight and high strength, large flow capacity, and its convenient and quick installation method, it can accelerate the construction cycle to some extent. Therefore, glass fiber reinforced sand pipe is a highly recommended material for drainage projects. Below is an introduction to the construction process of glass fiber reinforced sand pipe.
1 Inspection of pipe fittings
Conduct a comprehensive on-site inspection of the purchased glass fiber reinforced sand pipe to check whether the pipe has a factory certificate and product inspection report. It is not allowed to use pipes without a factory certificate and product inspection report for construction; also check whether the pipe body has any damage or cracks. If there is damage or cracks, they should be placed separately.
2 Connection methods of glass fiber reinforced sand pipe
The straight pipe section of the glass fiber reinforced sand pipe generally adopts a double O-ring socket connection method. For the joints, an adhesive of the same material as the glass fiber reinforced sand pipe is used to bond the joints, and a glass fiber cloth soaked in adhesive is wrapped around the bonding area until it cures.
3 Preparation of the pipe trench
Before installation, conduct a detailed and comprehensive inspection of the trench design drawings. If there are any discrepancies, make immediate adjustments. Remove hard stones and sharp objects from the bottom of the trench to avoid damaging the pipe during installation.
4 Lowering the pipe
Glass fiber reinforced sand pipeDuring the installation and lowering of the pipe, direct contact with steel wire ropes is not allowed to avoid localized stress damage. To ensure smooth venting during pressure testing after installation, the pressure test hole of the glass fiber pipe should face upwards. When lowering the glass fiber reinforced sand pipe into the trench, care should be taken to avoid contact with the trench walls to prevent damage to the pipe. When transporting and moving the pipe in the trench, do not disturb the trench foundation and walls, and each pipe should be placed about 0.4m apart in the direction of the trench.
5 Preparation for installation
Before installing the glass fiber reinforced sand pipe, check whether the shape of the O-ring is perfect and whether the surface is smooth. When bending or pulling the O-ring, there should be no cracks or unevenness on the surface. Before installation, clean the inner wall of the pipe and the socket area to keep the inside free of foreign objects. Clean the O-ring and groove thoroughly, and evenly apply lubricant to both the O-ring and the groove. Then, place the O-ring into the groove without any bending from the bottom of the pipe, and check the sealing position and whether it is bent around the entire circumference.
6 Pipe installation
Glass fiber reinforced sand pipeDuring installation, adjust to keep the installation surface perpendicular to the pipe axis. Then, evenly apply a layer of lubricant to the working surfaces of the pipe socket and the spigot to ensure smooth insertion during installation. After aligning the pipes, tighten the clamps on both pipes to keep them in a straight line. Use two tensioners to symmetrically tighten and evenly pull the installed O-ring into the socket. During the pulling process, check that the O-ring should not roll over, and the depth of insertion should meet the limit line requirements. Then stabilize the pipe and proceed with the installation of the next pipe using the same method.
