Fiberglass grating, also known as fiberglass panels, is a type of sheet material made from fiberglass as the reinforcing material and unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix, processed through special composite techniques to create a board with many voids. It features corrosion resistance, flame retardancy, non-magnetic insulation, vibrant colors, and various styles available.
Fiberglass grating can be used as a structural material for flooring, trench covers, platforms, ship decks, stairs, walkways, etc., in corrosive environments. In actual construction, some contractors apply a bonding layer of oil and then directly lay the fiberglass grating, followed by compaction with a roller, which yields good results and prevents wrinkling of the grating.
The overlap of fiberglass grating is longitudinal, with a minimum overlap width of 20mm and a minimum transverse overlap width of 15mm. The longitudinal overlap should place the previous piece on top of the following piece according to the direction of asphalt paving. When securing, steel nails should not be driven into the fiberglass grating, and hammers should not be used to strike the grating directly. If any steel nails break or if the clips loosen after securing, they need to be re-secured. After the fiberglass grating is laid and secured, it must be moderately compacted with a rubber roller to ensure a strong bond with the original road surface.
When selecting fiberglass grating, attention should be paid to the quality and appearance of the product. High-quality fiberglass grating products have no obvious cracks, fewer air holes, bright and pure colors, good transparency, certain toughness, high strength, good surface smoothness, and a long service life. In contrast, low-quality fiberglass grating products exhibit cracks, more air holes, impure colors, insufficient gloss, and a shorter service life.
