In China, Taiwan Province was one of the earliest places to manufacture and use fiberglass reinforced sand pipes. In the 1960s, it was used in the paper and chemical industries. Currently, the development and application of this product have become mature. Experts suggest that it can be prioritized for promotion and application in various engineering projects such as water supply, wastewater treatment, ventilation, refrigeration, water conservancy, and electricity.

(1) Urban water supply system construction. China's water resources are relatively scarce, ranking 84th in the world in per capita availability, especially in the northwest and some regions where water scarcity is more severe, directly threatening human survival. With theurbaneconomic development, the water supply task is very heavy. Fiberglass reinforced sand pipes are corrosion-resistant, insoluble, and durable, which can save water, energy, and steel. Therefore, it is recommended to prioritize the construction of new water supply pipelines in urban areas, especially for long-distance water transport, where the comprehensive benefits are more significant.

(2urbanSewage engineering construction.urbanThe treatment and discharge of sewage is an important environmental sanitation measure in municipal construction. In recent years, due tourbanrapid development and the sharp increase in population, the discharge of domestic sewage has been increasing, surpassing that of industrial sewage. Most existing sewers are overloaded and urgently need expansion. On average, 10-18% is updated each year. Considering theurbancleanliness and long-term planning, it is recommended to prioritize the use of corrosion-resistant, durable, and smooth fiberglass reinforced sand pipes when expanding and updating sewers.

(3) Construction of industrial wastewater discharge projects. Industrial wastewater contains corrosive acidic and alkaline substances, especially in industries such as papermaking, dyeing, leather, smelting, and chemicals, where the wastewater is more corrosive. The engineering lifespan of steel, cast iron, and reinforced concrete pipes is very short, and these pipes are buried underground, making maintenance and updates very difficult and costly, so fiberglass reinforced sand pipes are more suitable.

(4) Agricultural irrigation construction. Agricultural water use in China accounts for about 80% of total water use, but most areas use traditional earthen channels for water transport, leading to severe leakage losses. With the development of agriculture and the rise of science and technology, some regions in China have begun using fiberglass pipes and fiberglass reinforced sand pipes for irrigation, achieving significant economic benefits in water, land, and energy savings, as well as high yields.

(5) Other drainage engineering construction. In coastal or reclamation areas, factories, airports, docks, and roads, rainwater and sewage pipelines can use fiberglass pipes and fiberglass reinforced sand pipes that are acid and alkali resistant, occupy less space, have large flow capacity, are lightweight, and require less excavation and filling.

In summary, practice has proven that using fiberglass reinforced sand pipes, which primarily transport sand, is a significant breakthrough in new materials, not only providing good social and economic benefits but also being beneficial to the country and the people, as well as promoting entrepreneurship.
